Taxation

Facing falling tax revenues plus pressure to deliver value for public money, tax agencies must manage their operations and customer contact more efficiently and cost-effectively than ever before. That’s the premise of the partnership between Capgemini and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

Aspire

Capgemini is IT Partner to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), delivering Aspire, one of the public sector’s most complex and high-profile transformational outsourcing contracts. Created for the Inland Revenue in 2004, the outsourcing business model was expanded to deliver more services to more customers when the department was merged with Customs to form HMRC. Capgemini manages the provision of those services through a consortium of major IT providers known as Aspire.

Benefits delivered

Ongoing efficiency gains and cost reduction are integral to the contract, which delivers year-on-year service improvement. HMRC is benefiting from significant infrastructure modernisation and improvements to customer service on the world’s busiest tax website, which handles 10 complex returns a second at peak. Capgemini helps ensure the right IT is in place to enable HMRC to implement new legislation, enhancements and changes to existing functionality.
