HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has won three major awards for IT which helps the Department meet its compliance targets. It has already brought in £1.4 billion in tax by unearthing financial wrongdoing among individuals, and criminal gangs as well as supporting HMRC’s high-profile campaign work.

The solution, called Connect, works by matching over one billion items of data from taxpayer records, information from third parties and the internet.  This enables tax investigators and data analysts to uncover hidden connections between people, organisations and data that HMRC could not previously identify.
