Capgemini aims for UK leadership in SAP for HR and Payroll

Capgemini UK plc ("Capgemini") is making a bid for leadership in the UK market for HR and payroll ERP systems with the formation this month of its first dedicated team to provide SAP solutions to this sector. A specialist team of professionals with in-depth HR and SAP experience aims to make Capgemini the preferred supplier for public and private sector employers within the next 12 months, with the ambition of becoming the UK’s biggest dedicated SAP HR team during 2007/8.

The new unit is headed by Executive Consultants Paul Marson and Wayne Carstensen, both of whom have extensive in-depth experience of HR and SAP.

Capgemini is one of the world’s foremost providers of technology and consulting services and its UK clients include major government departments, local authorities and leading private sector companies in all parts of the economy. SAP is the world’s leading provider of business software solutions with global experience in HR and payroll systems.

Paul Marson said: ”HR directors in the UK increasingly need the right tools and processes to help them manage recruitment, development, workforce performance, negotiation and all other aspects of the HR function in as paperless and efficient a way as possible, and it will be my mission to give them those tools and the associated best practice processes.”

Paul Marson has 24 years HR and Payroll experience with the last 17 of those working with SAP HR. He worked as a software developer on the SAP HR product in Germany and has also worked as a consultant. The first implementation he led was in 1984 at West Midlands County Council. Since then he has worked as Project Manager and Project Director on some of the largest SAP HR and Payroll implementations. In 1994 he set up Access Consulting Ltd and oversaw its development into Pecaso before retiring from main board responsibilities. Paul combines Project Director and Project Management skills with a detailed technical knowledge of SAP.

Wayne Carstensen has over 20 years experience across the spectrum of Human Capital Management (HCM). Having started his early career as a labour negotiator, he progressed quickly to become an HR Director in companies such as De Beers Industrial Diamonds, Pilkington Glass (South Africa), and emerging technology companies in South Africa before moving into HR Consulting and the world of SAP HR and Payroll. From 2001 to 2004 he was Managing Director of Arinso UK Ltd, a subsidiary of Arinso International, a company specialising in HCM solutions.

He has worked in many countries and across many commercial and government sectors helping clients to define HCM strategy, refine their processes and implement the right solutions in HR and payroll ERP technology.
