Ruth Ormsby has been appointed Director of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) for the public sector at Capgemini UK plc. She joins the company from the Department of Health, where she headed NHS Shared Business Services, a public-private partnership delivering finance, accounting, payroll and procurement services to the NHS.
In her new role, Ruth Ormsby will lead an experienced team of BPO professionals solely dedicated to the UK public sector in a mission that aims to deliver massive cost savings to government through a move to shared services.
Ruth Ormsby said: ‘Business Process Outsourcing could help the public sector to save huge amounts of duplicated effort and wasted budget, and we can bring world-class private-sector practice to the way the sector works. By transforming the back-office, outsourced shared services will enable public sector organisations to maintain and enhance front-line services even in an era of challenging budget cuts.’
In her previous job at the Department of Health she achieved cost savings for the NHS of over £50 million in just five years by introducing outsourced shared services in a programme set to deliver £250 million savings in the next decade.

In her previous career Ruth Ormsby worked for five years at Ernst & Young where she rose to the position of Senior Consultant on projects involving corporate finance and business process reengineering for major clients across the public and private sectors. She has an honours degree in geography and archaeology from the University of Manchester and is a noted conference speaker, thought leader and author of white papers.
