Capgemini wins Best Public Sector Outsourcing Project and Best IT Outsourcing Project for MOD work

Capgemini’s work for MOD on Defence Travel Online was recognised at last night’s National Outsourcing Association Awards in London, winning the Best Public Sector Outsourcing Project of the Year and Best IT Outsourcing Project of the Year.

The awards were presented to Greg Hyttenrauch, CEO of UK Outsourcing and Cliff Evans, our Vice President of Defence, who were accompanied by Group Captain Andy Towler, the MOD lead for the project.

Last night’s success is a recognition of the Defence Travel Online project. Essentially, it allows some 300,000 Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force personnel worldwide – and MOD civilian staff – to book business travel online, eliminating the rigmarole of form-filling, warrants, dockets etc previously used. In addition to being much quicker and easier, DTO saves the MOD vast sums of money, by allowing individual travellers to compare costs and choose the best deal, by cutting administrative costs, and by giving the MOD the data it needs to drive better bargains with its travel suppliers.
