In a ceremony held in central London yesterday afternoon, Capgemini UK celebrated a double win at the 2011 Everywoman in Technology Awards.
The awards are the joint brainchild of three organisations; Everywoman, Connecting Women in Technology, and womenintechnology.co.uk. The awards were launched to demonstrate the career opportunities for women in the IT industry, which employs some 1.2 million people in the UK, only 23% of whom are women, and to provide role models inspiring more women to choose technology as a career.
The second award of the afternoon was won by Bille Major for ‘Team Leader of the Year’. Billie leads a team in the company’s Aspire business unit which delivers IT services for HM Revenue & Customs. The final award of the afternoon went to Christine Hodgson, Chairman of Capgemini UK who was named ‘Woman of the Year’. Christine was announced as the winner by a panel of judges who saw her as an exemplary role model and awarded to her by Carol Voderman.
