Capgemini has carried off the top IT prize in the National Outsourcing Association (NOA) Awards 2010. The company’s success in completing the WEFO Online project for the Welsh European Funding Agency (WEFO – part of the Welsh Assembly Government) was recognised by the NOA as the best IT outsourcing project of 2010.
Earlier this year the same project was judged best IT project of the year in the European Outsourcing Association Awards 2010, giving the project the unique distinction of being judged both the best in Europe and best in the UK.
The latest award was given jointly to Capgemini and WEFO at a glittering awards dinner last month at the exclusive Park Plaza Riverbank hotel, London.
The WEFO Online project has streamlined the processing of some £3.9 billion of European funds that are available for businesses, organisations and communities across Wales. The 2010 award also marks the third year running that NOA has recognised Capgemini client projects with a top award.
Rob Hunter ,WEFO Corporate Finance Director, said that the WEFO Online project was a success because of the close collaborative relationship with Capgemini. He added: ‘Capgemini were highly proactive in their analysis of issues, in putting forwards proposals for prioritisation and in developing highly innovative solutions.’
Andy McDonough, Welsh Assembly Account Director at Capgemini UK, said: ‘We are thrilled and delighted to have won such a prestigious award. Being the first Region in Europe to get Full Assurance status from the EU on our systems is testament to the hard work and dedication of a number of individuals since the beginning of the project, and this award recognises that collaborative endeavour.’
