Who you’ll be working with

The Capgemini Group has a global legal team of over 120 lawyers led from our Group Legal offices in Paris. Within that global team, there are local and regional legal teams of varying size. The UK Legal team currently consists of approximately 16 UK based lawyers, supported by lawyers based in India and Poland. That team is part of a global legal team with its main role to support the Group’s business in the UK and Ireland. Due to ongoing growth in the Group’s business, the UK Legal team wishes to recruit for this new role. The legal team is motivated, enthusiastic and supportive and enjoys an excellent range of high quality legal work. In the UK, the Legal team is also part of a business community called Core Services.

The Focus of your role:

You will work closely with a broad range of internal stakeholders and external clients and will advise on a wide variety of commercial issues and transactions, varying in nature, complexity and value, as well as ad hoc legal issues.

You will enjoy a good degree of autonomy and working on all phases of deals. In addition, you will be part of the global legal team and will need to comply with and deploy locally the Group’s global contracting principles, business ethics and values as well as company policies.

Applications are welcomed from lawyers with contract law experience, whether or not already specialising in IT law and whether in-house or in private practice.

What you’ll do:

• advising on all phases of deals, ranging from the proposal/bid review stages through to negotiation and post signature issues. This includes providing strategic legal advice at all stages of the deal;
• negotiation of contracts for the provision of IT, outsoursing (including business process outsourcing)and consultancy services;
• managing up to two UK based Legal Counsel;
• supporting the outsoursing of work to team members based in India and Poland. Supporting that work includes providing appropriate support, feedback and, on occasions, training;
• deliver occasional legal training and presentations to the business; and
• liaising with our external lawyers.

What you’ll bring:

• Excellent grasp of general commercial and contract law;
• Ability to manage and lead complex special projects, including the legal support of large value and complex bids and transactions;
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise and thought leadership in your area of expertise;
• Proven stakeholder management skills capable of forging relationships with top management, senior executives, business managers, team members, clients and 3rd parties;
• Ability to work successfully as part of a team, foster knowledge sharing and lead and coach small teams, including those located outside the UK;
• Lead efforts to suggest improvements to work practices and develop new thinking and approaches profitable for Capgemini’s business, including as based on feedback, personal insight and best practice;
