Main Purpose of Role

You will be part of one of the leading Consumer Products and Retail practices in the UK. As a global leader in strategy and transformation, we provide industry-specific services and guidance to the world’s largest consumer product organisations and leading retailers worldwide. You will help our Clients redefine and optimise their organisations, develop visions, improve operations and systems and drive performance. You will be encouraged and have the licence to develop new ways of delivering value.

Key Responsibilities

• Implementing business solutions in the buying and merchandising domain supported by technology where necessary.
• Delivering tangible business outcomes through leading buying & merchandising transformation programmes in tier-1 and large tier-2 retail organisations.
• Providing thought leadership on the changing face of merchandising in a multi-channel retail environment, and the impact insight and analytics has on the end-to-end retail supply chain.
• Developing and consolidating strong client relationships, with existing and potential clients, particularly at Board level, with the gravitas to engage on key retail issues.
• Leveraging proven industry content and delivery capability.
• Driving strategy, consulting & technology offerings to new and existing clients, ensuring offerings are relevant and timely, ensuring the effective development and growth of Capgemini’s Retail capabilities.
• Generating a personal revenue stream - selling major retail transformation projects (£multi-million), providing content-based leadership through the full sales lifecycle.
• Building capability teams, recruiting and nurturing talent to build a high performing buying & merchandising consulting practice.

Skills and Experience

• Deep understanding of buying and merchandising retail strategies and processes including merchandise planning; assortment planning; sourcing and costing; space planning, pricing and promotions; and forecasting, allocation & replenishment.
• Understanding of technology solutions and how they are applied is essential (but deep technical understanding is not necessary).
• A history of strong career progression within a consulting environment, having already delivered large projects and transformation programmes.
• Preferably some experience in an industry role to complement the consulting track record.
• Proven experience of opening, leading and closing large complex transformation deals.

• Sharp intellect and strong problem solving skills to address complexity thrown by client challenges; as well as analytical rigour and proven ability to synthesise data and formulate conclusions / recommendations.
• Ability to empathise with clients in politically challenging environments and to work to demanding timeframes / deadlines.
• Intellectually capable of developing and holding peer level relationships at all levels of a client’s company.
• A can-do attitude, proactive thinking / doing being able to navigate complex networks of relationships internally and externally.
• Demonstrates the potential to be a leader in our business and able to work fully collaboratively across a number of teams.

Whilst you will have London as an office base location, you must be fully flexible in terms of assignment location, as these roles may involve periods of time away from home at short notice.
