Who you’ll be working with

Our Application Development & Integration (AD&I) Delivery Unit specialises in agile custom software development and integration at an enterprise scale.

Our capabilities cover a wide variety of Open Source and proprietary technologies with a strong focus on Java and Microsoft.

We are seeking experienced Java Developers to deliver of some of the largest, most innovative enterprise Digital projects in the UK and around the world.

The focus of your role

You will be joining our innovative team as a Java Developer. Your primary focus will be on developing and delivering solutions for both internal and external clients. This will include development of both client and server side software following recognised standards and patterns. With demonstrable experience in Agile software development, you will be a fully competent Designer / Developer with exposure to a range of additional technologies.

What you’ll do

Your passion for development will enable you to ensure smooth development of our clients custom based solutions by:

• Acting as a designer, developer on delivery engagements for clients with responsibility for the specification, development, unit testing and implementation of complex multi-tier Applications
• You will be enhancing existing applications due to changing customer needs and requirements
• Providing technical support for transition of the application into live service and support
• Ensuring that functional and non-functional requirements are appropriately implemented

What you’ll bring

To get the most from this role you'll have:

• Knowledge of Java (up to and including Java 8) and open source technologies and frameworks; experience of building highly scalable, resilient applications
• Understanding of the core XP practices of TDD, Pair Programming, and CI/CD
• Demonstrable experience in at least one technology stack, including a selection of the following: Spring (e.g. Core, MVC, Integration, Data, Boot/Cloud), HTML5/JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, NodeJS), Integration Technologies (Spring Integration, Camel, Microservices, REST, JSON)
• Experience of working in agile teams and working in an agile manner in a commercial environment
• Good awareness of Dev Ops – including Continuous Integration and Delivery using agile Configuration Management
