#LGBTWork Tweetchat - What you missed!

Categories : FAQsCommunityGeneral

Today, saw Capgemini's LGBT Community called OUTfront, lead a Tweetchat alongside our friends at Debut - called #LGBTWork.

The idea was to cover 7 key topics in the format of questions, where Capgemini employees, wider LGBT networks and allies plus Debut representatives themselves.

First up...we asked about what would stop people being out at work? We saw an array of responses, kicked off boldly by Chair of OUTfront here at Capgemini, Jane Steed:

Current Capgemini Apprentice Amanda (double alliteration - bonus points!) followed shortly after...

LGBT Ally, Brenda from Debut then got inolved straight from the off...

Brenda was on a roll....with a sharp answer to Question 2...

in her first LGBT event representation whilst with Capgemini, Amanda was clear with her advice...

Laura, our Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Capgemini kept things apt but showing us over lunchtime, her OUTfront branded Capgemini mug!

Brenda was starting to get enjoy this Tweetchat - we could tell!

It was at this stage we welcomed Bobby into the mix, who was direct with his advice. Google is your friend :)

Then Vinodh was quick to continue with advice, stating:

Before we headed into Question 3, Jane shared a great image, from our friends at Stonewall

So Q3 hit our feeds quickly afterwards and Amanda made a valid point - is it true do you think?

Bobby was back with a bang...is training and communication key?

Alex, resident jounralist at Debut shared his view next...

Onto Question 4...and we had plenty of suggestions here, starting with Capgemini ambassador, Amanda...

Vinodh then shared some great example employers from the other side of the world...

...before Adam got in on the act for the first time, citing a number of different employers...

Jane was back again to showcase Jane being Jane - a great video to watch, check it out!

Capgemini Collegue Laura let (another double alliteration - double bonus points!) us into her blogging world - check out her article!

As we headed into the penultimate questions, Brenda from Debut named her hero...

...and the nominations kept on coming!

We then headed into the back straight with our final question, number 7...

Jane was first up to share her experiences....

Then Vinodh expressed his personal journey by saying:

Then finally, Bobby suggested honesty was the best policy for him...

So that was it! One hour of many conversations with honesty and openness at the heart of it all. It was a real eye opener for some, a great collective voice for others and insightful for allies I suspect!

Why not head over to Twitter and engage with the #LGBTWork conversation? Have your say!
