Capgemini are a company who care

I joined Capgemini in November 2012, and since have not found a time where I could not ask someone for advice. I am currently working as a PMO on a large Migration project which I was fortunate to been part of, from the start. I have had great exposure to lots of information allowing me to understand the project with the support of the management team.

Capgemini are very career focused, with a real drive to develop their employees. With plenty of Learning and Development practices in place, you have the tools to shape your own career.

Within this post I will touch on the learning and development opportunities within Capgemini and the graduate scheme.

Re-structuring

Capgemini have been focusing on re-shaping their workforce. The vision is a pyramid shaped team; this means a larger push on the development of their existing employees and faster progression of those entering. There is a clear structure for growth within the company and with annual reviews; there is plenty of time to build and present a promotion case. Reviewers are assigned to each employee, and will meet with you regularly. They will support you in gaining evidence to apply for a promotion and help you put your case forward.

Learning and Development Opportunities  

To support your development, there are plenty of Learning and Development resources to help you reach your potential;

  • Computer based training, is a great starting point as it gives you a better insight into a selected subject; this can then be supported by face to face training if required.
  • Charity events, help to develop your personal skills

Graduate Learning and Development resources:

  • As part of the Graduate scheme you will complete many master classes such as; ‘Getting it write’, ‘Time management’, ‘Making E-mail work for you’ and ‘Speak up’ these will help to build your core skills.
  • You will also have the opportunity to complete professional recognition courses.
  • Team skills developed through events such as ‘Dovenest’- an event in the Lake District which is top secret but apparently great fun!
  • Leadership skills developed through events such as ‘Raleigh’- which is a weekend running a community project and many others.

Approachable people

In an environment with plenty of development tools and opportunities you will have questions which you may be embarrassed to ask! If you learn anything on the training week it is that ‘there is no such thing as a silly question’. Capgemini offer plenty of routes to ask questions; anonymously through questionnaires, directly to other graduates who you may meet during graduate events, with your buddy assigned to you when you join Capgemini, or formally through e-mail/ face to face with your managers or co-workers.
