Online sales see continued growth with sales up 15% YOY

According to the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index - see the full press release here - the online retail market continued to see steady growth in October, recording a solid 15% year-on-year increase. The figure is particularly positive as it follows a strong August and September, when online retail spend recorded 18% and 20% year-on-year growth respectively. The Index has recorded 16% growth in online sales year to date in 2013, compared to 13% during the same time last year.

The story was well received with all of the major retail titles, with both Internet Retailing and Retail Week running stand alone news articles, featuring a quote from Capgemini’s vice president and head of retail consulting and technology, Chris Webster.

Real Business, a leading business magazine, also mentioned the report within a wider piece on the recruitment of temporary staff this Christmas. Essential Retail led with figures from the report in a story about the rise of mobile shopping.
