Outstanding decisions are made by design, not by default

Did you know that it’s estimated the average person makes up to 35,000 remotely conscious decisions a day? Makes you think, doesn’t it? How many of these decisions are taking place at work, about work? How many have an impact on the success of your business’ outcomes? How many of these decisions do you think are good decisions?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting people actively go about their day trying to make bad decisions. But to make good decisions requires people to understand the context in which these decisions are being made, the variables they need to consider when making them, the options available to them, and the consequences those decisions might have.

This is further complicated by the nature of the environment we work in today. The speeds at which we make connections, the multiple ways in which we connect to each other, and the sheer quantity of data on offer on which to base decisions are all increasing the complexity of the decision process.

This is not to say every decision requires high levels of rigour. However, for those really hard, strategic decisions, the ones that will drive the success of your business, the ones which require not just one person, but many people to be involved, it is imperative that the decision process is well thought through and designed with an outcome in mind. It should be created so that everyone can contribute in order that you can make the best decision for your business, and one which will stick.

Experience suggests then that the process by which these decisions are made cannot be left to chance. Your business will not be successful if key decisions are left to traditional decision making processes which are often slow, cumbersome and full of compromise.

Here at the Accelerated Solutions Environment (ASE) we have spent many years working with organisations on this challenge, the challenge of how you can bring your business together to make outstanding decisions, in an accelerated fashion, using the best possible content and method. We have helped hundreds of organisations do exactly this, often through our designshop events, and also by creating this capability as an integral part of your business.

Strategic advantage is about harnessing both the power of your own organisation and the knowledge and insight available to your business today to make decisions quickly that you can action. Our job is to ensure this happens, that your organisation can be as effective and productive as it possibly can be, and those 35,000 decisions a day are making a profound impact on the success of your business.
