From car-borne to carbon

Andy Mulholland, Global Chief Technology Officer, Capgemini speaks on corporate plans to cut carbon emissions and states that it "is nothing more than a question of common sense and much of the task is simply good practice."

With environmental issues continually making the headlines, most companies are looking to cut their carbon footprint. Resulting in most FTSE 100 companies now report on their carbon emissions, even though they are not obliged to and the market for environmental consultancy expanding rapidly with consultants keen to develop their skills.

With the issue currently becoming a core part of their business strategy companies are realising that both their employees and clients need to reassured about their green credentials. As a result Andy believes that “the environment issue is nothing more than a question of common sense-much of the task is simply good business practice.”

Andy is Global Chief Technology Officer for Capgemini. Andy joined Capgemini in 1996 with thirteen years of experience in senior IT roles. Andy was seen as an early pioneer in PC/Network technology resulting in his focus on Information Technology as opposed to traditional Computing. Andy has published five white papers, proposed Technology Architectural models, three of which have become the norm throughout the Technology industry, including the concept of ‘Adaptive IT’. Andy’s role of Global Chief Technology Officer includes advising the Capgemini Group management board on all aspects of technology-driven market changes.
