Web 2.0 has often been seen and believed by industry thought leaders as the future of understanding what consumers want and how to do business online. However with the current credit crunch, it appears Web 2.0 projects and other works of innovation will be the first major vicitim.
Steve urges firms to focus on “going back to basics” as IT budgets will shrink.
“IT budgets haven’t been reduced on a wide scale yet, but the mentality of firms
is changing, and CIOs are preparing for their spend to be scaled back,” Sutton
said. “People are moving back from the leading-edge and innovation projects, such
as Web 2.0, and instead thinking about getting the best value out of their exsiting
SAP or customer management systems.”
Steve also stated that although Web 2.0 is big for certain clients, “key issues
for Capgemini customers are sustainability - incorporating areas such as corporate
social responsibility - and security.”
