Our centre in China takes on Outsourcing for Norwegian Shipping Line. A fully laden ship is one that makes most money. A ship that sails half-full or is forced to remain in port because its capacity is under-utilised is an unprofitable ship. We are working with Norway's Torvald Klaveness Group AS to make this a thing of the past.
The Client
One of Scandinavia’s largest shipping companies, Torvald Klaveness Group (TKG) not only operates its own fleet, the Maritime Services Division handles the logistics for vessels owned by third parties. In all, this division operates about 80 vessels on behalf of 30 owners from 11 countries. These include the huge Panamax ships that ply the Panama Canal.
The Solution
Our center in South China handles TKG’s incoming communications from brokers and vessels around the globe. A team of 10-15 operators sort through massive quantities of data to ensure that chartering staff in Oslo focus on the most important information. This near real-time service is supported remotely using Lotus Notes and a Citrix “thin-client” architecture.
