Commentary on the drive for efficiency savings across local government, includes the extension of HMRC’s contract with Capgemini.

The outsourcing industry has grown dramatically as public sector budgets have shrunk, but some doubt if outsourcing offers councils value for money. HM Revenue and Customs renegotiated its contract with Capgemini last November and reportedly achieved better terms in the three year extension. HMRC had previously announced its need to slash operational costs.
