The Situation: The Client sought the assistance of Capgemini to develop a portfolio of improvement opportunities that supported their European Finance operations in reaching “the next level” of change. Working across 19 different countries, these opportunities encompassed:

  • Reducing the cost of back office operations
  • Maximising the quality of management information
  • Minimising working capital investments within core financial processes of Order to Cash, Accounting to Reporting, and Procure to Pay

The Solution:

  • Capgemini leveraged cross-industry experiences and leading practices to determine performance gaps
  • Developed Process Scorecards summarising the key attributes of processes, including unique requirements, key barriers to implementation (inclusive of change management issues and fiscal/legal concerns), key metrics, and improvement opportunities
  • Presented a preliminary European Assessment at a ‘playback’ event to obtain executive alignment; developed Future State Process Visions, including automation, standardization, rationalization, and centralization / shared options
  • Developed key assessment criteria and applied them to potential improvement opportunities to determine prioritisation
  • Defined a European Finance POA, including the roadmap for how the future state vision would be achieved, and how the organization would operate in the future
  • Developed an integrated high-level plan that enabled the client to achieve incremental and measurable improvements over different time horizons, including immediate next steps relating to near-term improvement opportunities; and presented a final European POA to the client’s Global CFO to obtain alignment and approval to proceed

The Result:

Capgemini identified and developed a portfolio of improvement opportunities which stood to deliver financial benefits in the range of $3.8-$6.0M p.a, while delivering a leaner, more flexible Finance organisation with streamlined business processes, improved management information visibility and availability, improved service levels and greater customer and employee satisfaction.
