ERP Implementation Programme - Government Department
The Situation: Capgemini was selected as the Department’s partner to implement an ERP system that would enable the Department to respond to the Governments modernisation agenda, reduce the cost and improve the quality of back office services and implement a new corporate strategy
The client was undergoing a range of significant change initiatives, including the preparations for the move to a new building and implementing a redefined corporate strategy. Capgemini was chosen to replace existing core HR, financial and project accounting systems within the Oracle 11i Enterprise Resource Planning system. The key drivers for change were around the need for integrated systems, redefined business processes and benefits realisation. HR was central to this process as it was recognised that there would be major people-related challenges in transitioning the organisation and its people to new ways of working at a rapid pace.
The Solution:
Capgemini worked in partnership with the Department to:
- Review the current HR operating model
- Identify how an ERP system could support the restructuring of HR and improve the quality and performance of HR services
- Develop a new operating model and processes for improving HR support to Business Managers and devolving key administrative tasks to business units such as the capture and maintenance of HR data, for example, personal details and training records
The Result:
- Reduced costs and processing time for HR administration.
- More accurate HR data to support manpower planning.
- Ability to monitor the performance of HR processes, to enable objective setting and provide tools and measures for ongoing improvement
