Open Text

Information at your fingertips – whatever form it’s in

Organisations today are struggling to find coherent, integrated ways of managing information that is held in an ever-increasing range of formats: database records, documents, web pages, multimedia, emails and so on. If you face that predicament, you’ll find that Capgemini’s strategic partnership with Open Text offers powerful solutions.

Open Text is an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) vendor known for market-leading products such as Livelink, while Capgemini has an outstanding track record in information management and systems integration. Together, we can rapidly turn off-the-shelf products into value-adding business solutions, often using proven “repeatable propositions” that save time and reduce risk.

Both companies have strong ties to SAP, and so we can also help you to realise the exceptional value available from integrating ECM with an SAP solution.

Our Open Text experience and capability

Capgemini and Open Text have a long-standing relationship, particularly in Europe; over the past couple of years we have formalised and strengthened it. Open Text has recognised our success in growing our joint capabilities and activities by naming us European partner of the year in 2008 and UK growth partner of the year in 2009.

We have a well-established joint track record, notably in local and regional government, and are increasingly working together in the private sector also. We have also created industry-specific templates which allow your organisation to start realising ECM benefits fast and with minimal risk.

The three-way strategic partnerships between SAP, Capgemini and Open Text mean clients get more out of their back office solutions, for example by linking SAP transactions to word processor documents or forms – which can be particularly useful in areas like HR.

Capgemini has an established team of Open Text solution architects and consultants headquartered in the UK. In addition we have a growing team of integration and development consultants in our Rightshore® facilities in India.

Services and solutions we jointly offer include:

  • ECM, including our local government template
  • case management
  • Electronic Document and Records Management (EDRM)
  • Open Text SAP vendor invoice management
  • archiving solutions – aided by our SAP colleagues
  • business case development
  • information governance services

Joint projects

Derbyshire County Council

As part of a wider engagement, Capgemini is helping Derbyshire County Council to implement a new Open Text EDRM system, integrated with SAP and other business systems, to improve the efficiency of information handling across the council, eliminate paperwork and avoid time-consuming manual processing of data. This system is key to council plans to boost staff efficiency and improve customer service by cutting the time spent on finding data and by improving data sharing across departments and associated business processes. It also improves risk and information compliance and reduces storage costs.

UK County Council

A second council engaged Capgemini to implement a new corporate ECM (EDRM) system designed to give council staff in all departments rapid access to data. The new system, based on the Open Text Livelink ECM solution, is planned for full deployment to all 10,000 council employees as regular users, making this one of the first UK local authorities to deploy modern ECM technology council-wide. Once again, ECM is expected to reduce costs and to improve the efficiency both of back-office operations and service delivery to the citizen.

In partnership

Capgemini’s experience in information management and systems integration ideally complements Open Text’s market-leading expertise in ECM technology. For example, quantifying the benefits to be had from ECM before you start can be a challenge; our holistic view of change in terms of people, process and technology, allows us to help you firm up the business case and identify priorities.

Our joint projects with Open Text (and, where relevant, SAP) deliver substantial cost and efficiency benefits, including:

  • Improved speed of delivery and reduced time to ROI
  • Industrialised security and simplified remote access to electronic records
  • Efficiency savings in information-centric business processing
  • Easier information sharing with business partners
  • Enhanced service delivery capability
  • Single point access to unstructured information organisation-wide
  • Reduced ICT estate costs through consolidation
