Professor George Yip heads up Research and Innovation arm for Consulting Services in Capgemini

Professor George Yip has joined Capgemini UK plc as Vice President and Director of Research and Innovation. One of Yip’s immediate tasks at Capgemini will be to launch a programme of Collaborative Research and Innovation for 2006 - 2007.

22 August 2006

The new Research and Innovation programme is intended to bring together senior executives, respected business academics and Capgemini specialists to provide answers to some of the difficult questions that businesses will face in 2006-2007. Capgemini is calling for active participation by senior executives from major companies and organisations, alongside leading academics. Participating organisations will have access to leading academics from institutions such as London Business School and Oxford University’s Business School, providing a customised diagnosis of each participating organisation’s strategy and capabilities.

The research project has been broken down into the following areas:

Global Sourcing of Services – What is the right strategic and management framework for sourcing services, perhaps taking advantage of ‘offshoring’?

Sustainability – How do leading proponents drive the long term reinvention of their business towards sustainability?

Emerging Business Models and their Dependence on Technology – Is technology positioning the key determinant of a business’s ability to embrace new business models?

Collaboration in Government – What are the right structures and techniques to drive all parties towards shared outcomes?

Professor George Yip is a Senior Fellow of the Advanced Institute of Management Research, the UK’s principal research initiative on management. Yip was previously Professor of Strategic and International Management and Associate Dean at London Business School, the Chair of Marketing and Strategy at Cambridge University, and has also held faculty positions at Harvard Business School and UCLA. Yip is also a Fellow of the Academy of International Business. He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics from Cambridge University; and an MBA from Cranfield and Harvard, and a doctorate from Harvard Business School.
