Figures from the Capgemini e-retail sales index have revealed consumers are still spending online in the run-up to Christmas 2008.
Sales of gifts and fashion accessories rose by 85% and 108% respectively in November compared with the month before.
Mike Petevinos, head of consulting for retail at Capgemini UK, said that the “strong figures suggest that bargain-hungry shoppers are using the internet to browse products prior to buying them.”
