IT innovation has huge potential to provide rewards to organisations, however
there are hurdles in the way. The Capgemini Global CIO Survey 2008, highlighted
that IT directors need to be innovators and not just operators of IT
“Of all responses to our survey, CIO felt the biggest barrier to innovationo was the need to focus strongly on operational issues,” Ivar stated.
Capgemini’s Global CIO Survey also highlighted that CIOs are a pessimistic buch, with 70% of CIOs surveyed felt that IT was critical for business innovation, but fewer than half believed their business leaders saw IT as the driver.
