Providers identify glitches in the state ID card plan
The Government wants to rush through its controversial scheme, but time is against it already, says Andrew Murray-Watson

The UK’s national ID card scheme seems fraught with difficulties even before it is tendered. Matt Howell, the vice-president, justice, security and defence, and head of ID management at Capgemini says: “The Home Office must move quickly with the procurement process. Government procurement processes have typically taken between 18 to 24 months. That would be too long if the timetable for ID cards is to be met.”
