E-commerce recieved a huge boost with the news that £15.2 billion was spent online in the 12 weeks running up to Christmas 2007.

Following the latest e-retail sales index from the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG) and Capgemini reported that 15% of all retail spend is now online.

Anthoula believes this is a sign of changing times, however “that retailers must still work to meet heightened customer expectations of service, particularly in delivery.

“Those with good results have addressed the front-end web site as well as (things like) the supply chain and warehousing,” she added. “The full value chain is important here.”
