Capgemini wins Banker Technology Award for 2nd year in a row
The Back Office Project of the Year was awarded to Capgemini for Unicredit Group’s HVB merger and acquisition of Banca Comerciala Ion Tiriac (BCIT), at the Banker Technology Awards dinner in London.

Capgemini worked with HVB to integrate the newly merged TiriacBank in Romania to the HVB Romania operations in 2006. This meant transitioning 540,000 customers and 68 branches to merge with HVB’s own 14 branches with 50,000 customers all within 10 months.. The operation meant a complete re-engineering of processes to complete a complex legal, organisational and technical merger.
The results achieved impressed the judges:
- revenues increased 15.6%
- costs stayed constant
- the cost-income ratio decreased by 6.7%
- staff cost reduced by 7.1%
