The next level of performance
The economic climate is adding to the pressure on oil and gas companies. Though prices are expected to remain above historic norms in the long term, making significant discretionary spending possible, margins are being squeezed by rising operational costs.

Finding and development costs are also high, while reserve replacement ratios are low, making replenishment a potential obstacle to traditional organic growth, and one which can impact the bottom line. Despite challenges like these, Capgemini can help companies to keep optimising and standardising their processes and procedures whilst maintaining operational flexibility. In this way, they can take performance to the next level and deliver the returns expected by their stakeholders.

Success Stories
Petrom
Capgemini enabled Petrom to confirm that Schlumberger’s software products met its requirements for data management and retrieval of upstream data types like seismic, logs, well header, deviations and production volumes. In collaboration with Schlumberger, we then installed and tested these products, migrating data from legacy systems and providing training workshops for data managers. Capgemini also developed an approach for introducing a Master Data Store.
Shell
Shell’s IT function needed to deliver business performance and growth, to achieve continuous operational improvement, and to take advantage of new technologies new sourcing models, and to do all this across a global set of businesses with diverse expectations. Capgemini supported Shell in defining an IT delivery model covering everything from portfolio management and supplier relationship management through to application and infrastructure support. The outcome was a roadmap for driving the IT function to top-quartile performance.
Petoro
Capgemini helped Petoro, the licensee for the Norwegian state’s direct financial interest in petroleum operations, to test the readiness of the various operators for deployment of smart operating practices. The project developed a first-generation diagnostic tool that can be used to assess the maturity of Smart Operations activities within an organisation. Another major output was a repository of leading Smart Operations practices worldwide.
