Capgemini sd&m becomes the new technology services daughter brand of Capgemini in Germany and Switzerland
sd&m and Capgemini’s SAP Business Solutions unit join forces in these two countries

As of October 1, 2008, sd&m software design & management AG (sd&m AG) and the SAP Business Solutions unit of Capgemini in Germany and Switzerland will join together to form Capgemini sd&m. The new daughter brand will cover the technology services business of Capgemini in Germany and Switzerland. The service portfolio of Capgemini sd&m will range from process and IT consulting to IT architecture and implementation and will comprise both custom software solutions and standard applications such as SAP.

As a holistic IT service provider, together with Capgemini’s SAP Business Solutions unit, we will serve the increasing demand for process consulting and hybrid solutions covering both custom and standard software applications. sd&m AG has been a wholly owned subsidiary of the Capgemini Group since 2001 but so far has been acting independently on the German and Swiss markets. The company specialises in the development and implementation of custom software solutions and will continue to exist as a legal entity after the new formation of the technology services area, but will be renamed Capgemini sd&m AG. The German and Swiss Capgemini’s SAP Business Solutions unit provides consulting services in the area of processes and standard applications such as SAP. Capgemini sd&m will have some 2,000 employees at ten locations in Germany and Switzerland. The management board of Capgemini sd&m will comprise of sd&m AG’s Edmund Küpper (CEO), Burkhard Kehrbusch (Deputy CEO), Rüdiger Azone, Dr. Uwe Dumslaff, Kai Grambow, Dr. Michael Rading, Josef Ranner and the two managing directors of Capgemini Deutschland GmbH in charge of SAP Business Solutions, Dr. Peter Lempp and Dr. Olaf-Rüdiger Hasse.
Growing stronger together
Capgemini sd&m will further develop the software engineering know-how that the sd&m team will bring into. In addition, IT consulting, software integration and standard application solutions such as SAP will be another important part of the Capgemini sd&m service portfolio.
As Edmund Küpper states: “Combining these offers will create further growth potential for Capgemini sd&m, which the two units would not have been able to fully tap into independently. Especially against the background of the increasing internationalization of clients and service provision in the IT service industry, we will leverage the strengths of the Capgemini Group together and demonstrate this by our new name.“
In addition to technology services, Capgemini also offers consulting services and outsourcing services in Germany, Switzerland and globally. Even on their own, all three disciplines cover an extensive service portfolio. By combining the three disciplines of consulting, technology and outsourcing, Capgemini is able to provide clients with services ranging from strategy and IT consulting to software development and implementation, and the operation of applications and business processes.
