What next for the UK local public sector? It is nearly three years since the ‘Transformational Government – Enabled by Technology’ policy document was produced by the Cabinet Office, yet many local government offices are still a long way from achieving the “better use of technology to deliver public services and policy outcomes that have an impact on citizens’ daily lives” that it espoused.
Some local public service organisations, however, have successfully stepped up to the mark. Capgemini has supported a number of local government programmes that are delivering the improved efficiency, effectiveness and customer experience objectives of this transformational strategy.
While Capgemini is perhaps best known in the public sectorfor delivering large-scale and high profile transformation programmes such as the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Aspire contract and we have also steadily built a reputation for enabling local public sector programmes of change and leading the debate around the provision of shared local public service delivery.
