Flexibility provides the key to finding that competitive edge

Employers can no longer offer just a decent salary and a staff canteen. While the benefits apply to both female and male, support for parents can be a deal-maker for women.
The article highlights example from large consultancies on their flexibility for working conditions and praises Capgemini’s approach to networking events and masterclasses taking place at lunchtime.
Capgemini is a “networked organisation” due to the way it works. Capgemini recognises that not all employees are able to commit to more organised networking opportunities outside work hours. For this reason Capgemini hosts networking and training events (or ‘Masterclasses’) during lunch hours where people can come along and learn something new as well as meet colleagues from across the business.
In 2003 only 8.5% of Capgemini’s Vice Presidents were women. By taking positive action using direct recruitment and internal talent development Capgemini has seen this number increase to just over 17%.
