Got GCSEs? Considering a move into IT?

Do you have a strong interest in IT and a determination to build a successful career in the field? If so, why not apply for Capgemini’s Advanced Apprentice Programme? As an IT apprentice, you’ll be working for one of the world’s largest, most innovative companies. On successful completion of the programme you are likely to be offered permanent employment with us.

WE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING IT APPRENTICES TO START FROM SPRING 2012

You can join our 12-month Advanced Apprentice Programme in Application Services straight from school or college, or after spending time working in IT either with Capgemini or elsewhere.

During your IT apprenticeship, you’ll be assigned to real projects for our clients, and will experience a range of real technology solutions. That practical experience is backed up by classroom training to give you a solid background in IT.

As an Advanced Apprentice you could experience any of these roles:

  • support and development
  • testing
  • deployment and configuration management
  • work in a Project Management Office (PMO)
  • desktop support

We offer:

  • a structured, tailored training programme
  • one day per week day release at a local learning provider
  • the opportunity to gain qualifications that are recognised and valued by the industry, including the Level 3 ICT Practitioner Apprenticeship Qualification
  • on-the-job training to build practical competency in a real work environment
  • support from a Capgemini manager, from the learning provider, and from a mentor or “buddy”
  • excellent working conditions in a company which cares about its people
  • good opportunities for career development
  • a competitive salary

During your IT apprenticeship, we expect you to:

  • show the commitment and drive to complete the programme
  • produce a portfolio of evidence in order to obtain the Apprenticeship Qualification

To be eligible, you need:

  • at least five GCSEs at grade A-C, or equivalent, including maths and English
  • a keen personal interest in IT
  • good oral and written communication skills
  • self-motivation
  • ability to work well as part of a team

Note: this programme is designed for people with GCSEs but no A-levels. We have another apprentice programme for those with A-levels, and also a graduate programme. If you have already done an Advanced Apprenticeship our Higher Apprentice Programme might be more suitable. If you live in or near Newcastle or Leeds and have an interest in becoming a software developer, please read about our 2-year Advanced Apprentice Programme in Financial Services.

What happens next?

If your application for an Advanced Apprenticeship is shortlisted, you’ll be asked to complete a short telephone interview. If you’re successful there, you’ll be invited to an assessment centre consisting of an interview, a group exercise and some short aptitude tests.

We look forward to welcoming our new apprentices from the end of March 2012 onwards.
