THE SHROPSHIRE STORY

Delivery to the HMRC is carried out from twelve locations in Telford plus from other offices across the UK.

Located in the beautiful Shropshire countryside yet close to the Birmingham conurbation, Telford’s green and open sanctuaries surprise many first-time visitors.  From inception, the aim was to create a “Forest City” through the planting of millions of trees, shrubs and bulbs.  The town has since won a stream of awards for its landscaping. At the centre of the town lies one of the largest town parks in the UK with 182 hectares of idyllic formal gardens, woodlands, lakes and play areas.

Telford is one of the ‘second generation’ new towns and was designated in 1963 to stimulate economic growth and provide new housing for the West Midlands. The area was expanded in 1968 and renamed Telford, after the famous civil engineer Thomas Telford.

The investment made in infrastructure and landscaping over the past 40 years has created an ideal living and business environment.  For those thinking about relocating their business or family, Telford is the favoured option.  The town offers an unequalled quality of life for families.  New retail, leisure and hotel developments are springing up all over the town as well as a large variety of modern and affordable houses and housing developments. A wide range of new companies has joined the better-established UK businesses to strengthen and diversify the economy.

Commuting

Telford is ideally placed for commuters travelling from the adjacent counties of Cheshire, Staffordshire and West Midlands.  It is also feasible for individuals to commute from a wider radius with the major conurbation’s of Chester, Liverpool, Warrington, Stoke, Burton-Upon-Trent, Derby and Worcester, all achievable within a 1 ½ hour drive. It is estimated that over 23,600 individuals commute to work in Telford on a daily basis, emphasising that this is indeed an easily accessible place of work.

Commuters use a number of means including the excellent rail links into Telford available from Birmingham New Street, Chester, Stafford, Crewe and Stoke.
