Learning and Development

You are in: Who We Are

Today, learning is more vital than ever

Our priority is to develop and retain a highly skilled, collaborative and agile workforce capable of creative thinking and exceptional performance. Cultivating our talents and capabilities enables us to stay aligned with present and future market needs. We achieve this by providing:

  • highly focused learning and networking opportunities at the Group University
  • a formal training path integrated into each employee’s Personal Development Plan, aligned with the role, career path and overall needs of the local entity and the Group,
  • certification programs that give every individual the scope to develop their professional skills and expertise.

Accessibility of Learning Opportunities

We are an equal opportunity employer offering training to all our employees.

Through our learning management system we enable both formal and informal learning and with our on-line learning our employees have more flexibility in where and when they learn. We also have virtual communities dedicated to creating and sharing specialist knowledge.

Online learning

My Learning is the Group’s learning management system which offers multi-modal learning with access to e-learning modules,as well as the possibility to register for classroom-based courses.
The aim is to enhance professional development and to create a clear training plan which can be regularly viewed, managed and tracked.
These programs are built into our on-boarding and personal development plans.

The updated and expanded version of My Learning, introduced in 2005, offers:

  • over 1,500 e-learning modules covering business, IT and soft skills,
  • an online mentoring option,
  • online access to over 8,000 books relevant to specific professions and industries.
  • Reference ware and test preps
  • On-line exams for certification programs

Spotlight on Learning and Development in the UK

Development

Our employees have a personal reviewer and are required to set their Personal Development Plan (PDP), which is regularly reviewed and updated. The PDP encourages the individual to set their objectives for the upcoming year, based on their career aspirations as well as an understanding of our business needs and market trends. Our appraisals approach is fully calibrated to ensure that it is a fair and useful process.

Learning

In addition to the above courses, we offer our employees locally delivered courses and on the job training to help them build up their skills and knowledge in specific areas and to achieve their PDP objectives. Employees agree with their managers which courses or business approaches would be most appropriate and useful to their future development. They can choose from our extensive catalogue of courses as well as re-skilling opportunities. In addition, a series of openly available courses are run for any employee to attend, for example ExpressTrains. These are 2-3 hour sessions designed to give our employees additional training in specific core ‘soft’ skills. Team away days are also arranged, where specialist training takes places across the whole team.
